National Pray for a Priest Day

Being a Catholic priest has to be an incredibly tough, yet gratifying, job. A priest dedicates his entire life to caring for the sheep that Jesus entrusted to him, with the power of the Holy Spirit. He spends his time in service, catechizing, baptizing, healing, celebrating the Eucharist, administering to the sick, on top of all the requirements needed to run a parish on a daily basis.

“The world’s bishops, priests, and deacons need people’s prayers and encouragement to continually deepen their relationship with Jesus and serve their community with love,” said Pope Francis.

With this in mind, today on June 2nd, 2017, The Catholic Man Show is sponsoring, “National Pray for a Priest Day”

It’s very easy. Sometime today pray for your parish priest and local bishop. It will take maybe 2 minutes total. After you are done, share this prayer with as many people as you can!

Prayer for a Priest:

O Lord Jesus Christ, good shepherd of your people and our great high priest standing before God on our behalf, pour out your blessing on (Name of Priest), that he may serve you as a faithful steward of the sacraments of grace, an effective witness to the Gospel and as a conscientious pastor to this parish (or diocese, or for…), that your Church may be strengthened and equipped for its mission; thourgh the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

    I offer my prayers on this National Pray for Priests Day to Fr. John K. Butler, the finest priest I have ever known, as well as an incredibly gentle, kind person. We are SO LUCKY at St. Michael’s, West End, NJ, to call hi. OURS! 😇 😀
